You can tell that earth toned vocalist Alemay Fernandez has grown up in the church. On this rewarding R&B infused album, she brings moods and sounds that sound like it’s Sunday all week. She works hard to win you over, smoking with the B3 on “Being You” while having fun with a vocalese typed bopper on “Hard to Imagine.” She testifies with a churchy choir of Vanessa Fernandez, Michaela Therese and Sabina Fernandez” as the organ brings out “ I Believe” and is drenched with gospel as she sounds thankful on “How Many Ways.’

She also likes to have fun, bantering back and forth with Richard Jackson on a fun and frolicking “My Baby and Me” and glows like a candle on “Heaven Wrote a Song.” Even the hip salsa I Got The Feelin’” is upbeat, optimistic and encouraging. This lady has a smile in her dna.~ By George W. Harris
