London imprint Platform 23 has issued a vinyl reissue of the 1987 cassette Half Dead Ganja Music by French experimental trio Vox Populi!. The group was formed in early-1980s Paris by siblings Mithra and Arash Khalatbari (of Iranian descent) and Axel Kyrou (of Greek-Egyptian heritage), the latter being the son of musique concrète pioneer Mireille Kyrou. Their international composition and avant-garde background shaped a distinctive "ethno-industrial" style fusing industrial music, post-punk, Persian poetry, musique concrète, and global musical traditions. Half Dead Ganja Music comprises twelve pieces divided between a studio side and a live side, marked by dark ambient textures, drone, sparse drum machine pulses, and a ritualistic atmosphere — a departure from the percussive psychedelia of earlier records. Platform 23 has released the album on vinyl in high-quality packaging.
