Wasteman (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is an original score by British electronic producer and composer Matthew Barnes, known as Forest Swords, created for the feature-length directorial debut of Cal McMau. The film Wasteman — a claustrophobic prison drama starring David Jonsson and Tom Blyth — premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, was released theatrically in the UK by Lionsgate on 20 February 2026, and in the US by Sunrise Films on 17 April 2026. The film received a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director, or Producer, and McMau won Best Debut Director at the British Independent Film Awards.
The 18-track soundtrack was released on 22 April 2026, timed to coincide with the film's US theatrical run. Barnes's music for Wasteman fundamentally departs from conventional film scoring: rather than providing melodic support, it constructs a pulsating, anxiety-inducing sonic environment infused with drum 'n' bass elements, industrial electronics, and jagged rhythms. Barnes has also composed music for the video game Assassin's Creed: Rogue and the interactive drama As Dusk Falls.
