The 1954 album "Classics In Jazz" is the first LP release of the historic Miles Davis Nonet recordings, which later formed the basis of the legendary "Birth of the Cool" compilation. Conceived as an alternative to the aggressive nature of bebop, this project fused jazz harmony with classical impressionistic techniques and a chamber-like ensemble sound.
