The record serves as a meditative exploration of musical vulnerability and radical empathy, where jazz standards and traditional African motifs are reimagined through the lenses of minimalism and Afrofuturism. The primary focus lies in improvisational unpredictability and the intimate interplay between voice and piano, enhanced by Rafiq Bhatia’s sophisticated sound design. The closing track, "Sylvia," rooted in the South African Xhosa choral tradition, is transformed into an experimental soundscape using synthesizers and analog effects, symbolizing the bridge between ancestral knowledge and contemporary technological expression.
