"Surgery and Pleasure" marks a significant milestone in the career of the Boston-based trio Vundabar, being their first release on the major independent label Loma Vista Recordings. The album's creation began during a period of personal rehabilitation for frontman Brandon Hagen, which was influenced by his use of a custom guitar prototype that reshaped his approach to the instrument.
