Virtuoso Aly Keïta presents the album "Balafon Evolution," expanding the boundaries of traditional African music through a synthesis of jazz and contemporary improvisation. As part of a Berlin-based trio featuring drummer Marcel van Cleef and bassist Roberto Badoglio, the musician creates a unique style combining ethnic rhythms with complex polyphony. Descending from a lineage of Griots, Keïta has transformed the balafon from an accompanying percussion instrument into a lead solo instrument by introducing a chromatic system and innovative performance techniques. His work has exerted a fundamental influence on the global music scene, turning an archaic instrument into the foundation for futuristic musical fusion.
