Drag City has released the first official reissue of Circle X’s 1983 debut album, "Prehistory," which was originally recorded in 1981. The Louisville-based ensemble developed a visionary sound that preceded post-rock and noise, blending post-punk with dub-influenced polyrhythms and atonal experimentation. The record features intricate drum phasing techniques reminiscent of Steve Reich, alongside tape loops and structural deconstruction.
