Mara et Nana Vasconcelos - Ntsano (1983)

Mara et Nana Vasconcelos - Ntsano (1983)
The album "Mara," recorded in Canada in 1983, resulted from a unique collaboration between percussionist Vasconcelos (Nana Vasconcelos) and a group of young musicians from Québec City led by Denis Hébert. The recording also featured saxophonist Maurice Bouchard and multi-instrumentalist Pierre Tanguay.

The record's musical style is an eclectic fusion of jazz and the avant-garde, incorporating elements of American minimalism. The sound is further enriched by motifs from African music and Eastern spirituality, creating an atmosphere of mysticism. This album remains the collective's sole collaborative project, capturing a moment of creative unity before the musicians resumed their individual careers.
