The Painted Trees of Ghostwood is the sole studio album by the Swedish project Songs of Soil, released in 2000. The band was formed by brothers Christian and Gustaf Kjellvander shortly after the breakup of their previous group, Loosegoats. The album's musical style is a melancholic alternative country with a noticeable leaning towards acoustic sound and lo-fi aesthetics. It was recorded at Mojo Studios (Sweden), with mastering completed at the renowned Polar Studios. The album is considered a significant milestone in Christian Kjellvander's transition to a successful solo career.
