In February 2016, two decades after the participation of other Detroit legends, Kenny Dixon Jr. released his contribution to the DJ-Kicks series. It is a low-key, multi-genre mix composed of tracks released no later than 2014. Despite the absence of the artist's own productions and his signature vocal interjections, Dixon's individual style is clearly evident in the skillful editing and specific selection. The curation encompasses Detroit hip-hop, neo-electro, and disco, including works by artists from the Mahogani Music label.
