"Best Hits Album" is an album released on December 5th, 1978, by Pink Lady, the female duo consisting of Mie (now Mie Miyi) and Kei (now Keiko Masuda), at the height of their popularity. As the title suggests, its greatest feature is that it covers almost all of the group's signature songs from their early days. It includes all of the A-side tracks from their debut song "Pepper Keibu" (August 25th, 1976) through their tenth single "Chameleon Army" (December 5th, 1978), plus "Super Monkey Son Goku," the theme song for the TV puppet show "Yanmar Family Hour: Fly! Son Goku." There is also an album of the same name released on December 5th, 1977, with a different tracklist, but it can be said that this 1978 album contains more of the group's early singles. For this vinyl reissue, the sound production was entrusted to Shinya Matsushita, head of PICCOLO AUDIO WORKS, a familiar name in Stereo Sound's sales. The original 1/4-inch analog master tape from 1978, treasured by Victor Entertainment, was brought to the PICCOLO AUDIO WORKS studio to create a cutting master for the lacquer disc. While respecting the sound of the master tape to the utmost, Matsushita made minimal adjustments to suit modern listening environments, resulting in a cutting master on 1/2-inch (half)-inch tape, a luxury specification by today's standards. Pink Lady's music was then engraved onto the lacquer disc using PICCOLO AUDIO WORKS' pride and joy, a cutting system centered around a 1950s American Scully RA1389 cutting machine, modified by Western Electric, using a Telefunken M21 1/2 tape deck as the output (the cutting amplifier was a Westrex RA1574D vacuum tube).

All of the equipment used in the cutting process is vintage, but thanks to the meticulous maintenance by Mr. Matsushita, who has a deep knowledge of the equipment, it goes without saying that it remains in world-class condition.

Produced using a well-maintained cutting system from the heyday of analog records, based on analog master tapes that were in extremely good condition, this album is characterized by a sound that makes the most of the characteristics of analog. We hope you will enjoy the sound.
