Mai Mishio - Turn Around (2025) Hi-Res

Eight years after her previous album, "Usotsuki Mishio," Mai Mishio's latest album, "Turn Around," is an ambitious work co-produced by Takuro Okada and mastered by Alex DeTurk, an engineer at New York's The Bunker Studio, who has worked on Big Crown Records releases and with David Bowie and D'Angelo. In addition to rearranged and re-recorded versions of her signature tracks "Sayonara, Sayonara" and "Muinai na Denwa," the album features a diverse selection of tracks that transcend the boundaries of band sound, including "Cheek Time," which incorporates Chicano soul and '60s pop vibes, and "Watashi no Shita ga ga," a danceable track with a mellow, tropical vibe that also hints at Brazilian psychedelia. The album veers between retro and vintage, leaving listeners with a deep sense of satisfaction. The artist photo was created by photographer Katsuhide Morimoto. Art director Tetsuya Nagato layered the photograph on paper and re-photographed it with a macro lens, creating an image that visualizes the work in a minimalist and noble way, becoming a symbolic artwork.
