For Latin music, New York meant not just the local versions of salsa, but all sorts of mixes that could only happen where todo el mundo met. Where Panama's Sylvia de Grasse could team up with pianist Damiron, who was mostly known for merengue, and (for this recording at least) a gorgeous calypso-ish clarinetist.
