While not his boldest or most popular work, it may be his most rewarding and pre-empted the 2000s interest in classical minimalism and Satie-esque music, as the trip-hop genre Yokota originally drew from was fading. The album showcases bold sampling experiments, such as slowing down piano passages from the film 'Basquiat' on 'Sleepy Eye' and adding an "inebriated" break to loops from Steve Reich's 'Nagoya Marimbas' on 'Lapis Lazuli', bringing Reich's idea full circle back to Japan with traditional percussion. Tracks like 'Love Bird', which distorts Ravel's 'Oiseaux Tristes', illustrate how Yokota sheds his trip-hop skin, venturing into noisier, experimental environments, including layered ethnomusical samples in 'Fearful Dream' and deep house elements in 'Tears of a Poet'.
