Singer/songwriter Goldie Boutilier unpacks the heartbreak, grit, and glamour that define her long-awaited debut album, ‘Goldie Boutilier Presents Goldie Montana.’ Her cinematic, golden-hued opus reveals a voice both timeless and fresh – sultry, spellbinding, and unafraid to turn survival into starlight.

Definitely one of my most anticipated releases this year, Goldie Montana is an accumulation of everything I love about Boutilier as an artist. Like a fever dream of 70’s infused melodies, the album lends a certain Fleetwood Mac inspired nostalgic sound that ranges from fantastic guitar moments and intimate portrayals of her dark past, to glittery disco elements that hype the feeling of hope, all tying into the overall fantastic retro sound.

I’ve been such a huge fan of Goldie for many years now, and seeing her this past February in Bristol was a night I’ll honestly never forget. She teased the crowd with a first listen of King of Possibilities which is still such a standout on the album. Out of the newer set of tracks, Snake Eyes and Terrible Things definitely stood out as initial favourites. The subtly beautiful At The End Of The War is also a stunning track to finish the album off with, reminding me of the feeling and themes of another favourite track of mine from one of her past EP’s which is the heartbreaking K-Town.

Goldie has definitely mastered her signature sound, look and aesthetic over the last few years, especially with the lead up to this album with fantastic EP’s Cowboy Gangster Politician, Emerald Year and The Actress. The attention to detail, if it’s a reference, a quote or a general vibe is just exquisite. So happy to finally have another addition to her already stellar and standout discography.
