"Obuhangwa Bwa Banyankore Na Bahororo" is an archival music project initiated by the Ugandan label Nyege Nyege Tapes to preserve and promote the oral and musical heritage of the Banyankore and Bahororo peoples of Southwestern Uganda. This compilation is a collection of field recordings that include traditional songs, lullabies, wedding hymns, and heroic poems (ekyevugo). The project was realized in collaboration with the local cultural organization, Engabu Za Tooro. The recordings were captured in their natural environment, without studio artifice, preserving the authentic sound and spirit of these ancient traditions. The album serves as a vital document of a cultural heritage at risk of disappearing.
