KODO - Mountains (2025) Hi-Res

Born in Osaka in 1979 and raised in Tokyo, he is a third-generation Korean resident of Japan. He is active in a variety of music scenes, transcending the boundaries of folk, traditional, and contemporary music, centering on the Korean drum solo. In addition to performing Korean drums, he also composes music (lyrics and composition), produces music for TV commercials (Shiseido Cosmetics Spring/Summer 2008), and collaborates with Butoh (Min Tanaka). In 2009, he began his "Chango Walk," a journey to experience Japanese and Korean culture. In pursuit of a "walking lifestyle and walking rhythm," he walked the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido (2009), Kyoto to Hakata (2010), Tokyo to Seongju, South Korea (2015), a pilgrimage to Mount Fuji (2016), the Sanriku Coast (2018), and a circumnavigation of Sado Island (2021). His creative themes are the rhythms, dance, and song he feels in the mountains, rivers, oceans, asphalt, and roadsides.
