SUSTAINED is a sound project—a collaborative dialogue between Ekaterina Bazhenova-Yamasaki and Maria Gorodeckaya—that draws upon a collection of memories and discussions concerning rituals, yokyoku, birth, interpersonal challenges, spiritual connection, as well as themes of heartbeats and heartbreaks. The project’s original soundscape is composed of field recordings from China and Japan, integrated with analog live recordings created by Ekaterina and subsequently reworked and developed into an album through a collaborative process with Maria.
Five individual prints made by Gorodeckaya will be released on 24 August 2025.
‘vii’ is a live improvisation from March 8, 2024, performed at Doyenne’s Night, hosted by Ormside in London. Released in tandem with two single edition sculptures by Gorodeckaya and Bazhenova-Yamasaki in pewter and recycled glass respectively.
