Strange Tanks is the sophomore album from Street Fruit, the Los Angeles-based rock outfit featuring Hans Dobbratz (vocals), Philipp Minnig (guitar, vocals), Cyrus Gengras (bass, vocals), and Tiffanie Lanmon (drums, vocals). They bring ten well-produced new songs to the stage, songs that excel in power and energy, but it’s the invigorating tension—controlled and ever-present, but never quite exploding—that truly holds the listener’s attention. The slithering menace blends with raw garage rock influences one moment and weird poppy melodies the next, but it’s always dynamic and strongly structured, twisting expectations in just the right ways.
