"Koya" is the fourth studio album by Malian musician Abou Diarra, named in honor of his mother. The album is a poetic journey where the traditional sounds of the kamale n’goni (a Malian harp-guitar) blend with modern urban vibrations and blues influences. Produced by Nicolas Repac, the album features a guest appearance by the renowned kora master Toumani Diabaté, who plays on two tracks. In "Koya," Abou Diarra transcends traditional sounds, using his instrument not only as a harp but also as a guitar, bass, or even drums, creating a musical canvas that is both deeply rooted in the Mandingo hunter culture and forward-looking, combining melancholic ballads with the wild rhythms of "bal poussière".
