On “AANK,” Kombynat Robotron’s seventh studio album and their first with Fuzz Club, the Kiel-based trio introduces vocals and structured songs, moving away from their roots as an instrumental jam band. The flowing psychedelic soundscapes of their earlier work give way to a raw, feedback-driven kraut-punk assault. Recorded live in one room at Kulturzentrum Karnak in Kassel with engineer Felix Margraf, “AANK” captures the band’s intense live energy. Spanning eight tracks from “Staub” to “Finsternis,” the album races through noisy, hypnotic soundscapes, blending chaos and control. Lyrically, it explores themes of decay, loss, and existential struggle, proving psychedelic rock can still be bold, loud, and boundless.
