Likulli Fadāin Eqāéh (كلّ فضاءٍ إيقاعه — to each space its own rhythm) marks Khaled Kurbeh’s return with his first solo release in seven years, out July 18, 2025 via Research Records (Naarm/Melbourne). Composed between 2019 and 2023, the album is part of Kurbeh’s ongoing practice muhawalāt (attempts, variations) and hawāmesh (margins), sonic sketches that reflect on everyday life.
Departing from the acoustic textures of his debut Aphorisms, Kurbeh offers 10 brooding electroacoustic pieces blending experimental composition with elements of musique concrète. Field recordings (swallows, seed-snapping on Nuzha I) meet minimal instrumentation: harmonium, upright piano, bowed strings, Fender Rhodes played with mallets. Each piece suggests a journey, mapping spaces through rhythm, texture, and atmosphere — balancing harmony and dissonance, stillness and movement.
The gatefold vinyl features visual artworks by Ida Lawrence, including a booklet of 10 painted variations of the same landscape under changing light. A solo piano album by Kurbeh, recorded in his Kreuzberg studio, is expected later this year.
