The Choir of Salford Cathedral, Alex Patterson - Rise Up and Wonder (2023) [Hi-Res]

The album, recorded and produced by Neil Collier on Priory Records, contains music composed over the past few years by living female composers
from the UK, Australia and Canada, with the exception of two chants by the German composer Hildegard of Bingen, one of the first documented
female composers in history (12th Century).

The Salford Cathedral Choir aims to transport the listener directly into the building, a place of sacred tranquility and escape from the hustle and bustle of Salford's bustling Chapel Street
on the other side of the West Door. We have collected a number of a cappella sacred music to give an idea of the music playing in Salford Cathedral
during the liturgical year. These are works that have been "tried and tested" in liturgical contexts, often eliciting emotional responses from parishioners
who were so moved by the music and inspired to "rise up and be surprised."
