Hommy Sanz Y Su Orquesta - Solito (1976)

Singer, percussionist, composer and orchestra director. Born In Fajardo (Puerto Rico), 6th of September 1942, died of a heart attack in Texas (US), June 11, 1994. In 1967 he formed his orchestra, which at first he called "La Magnífica," but this name already existed, so instead he christened it "Hommy Sanz y sus Jóvenes de Puerto Rico" which was made up of: Director and singer - Hommy Sanz; Trumpet - Joe Pujals; 1st trombone - Heriberto Sánchez; 2nd trombone - Juan J. Cruz; Piano - Julio Mata; Congas - Tony Jimenez; Bongos - Tito Sanchez; Bass - Polito Huerta; Timbales - Max Cepeda; Chorus (coro) - Joe Cepeda and Millo Otero. Sanz recorded with this orchestra for the FONSECA record label, an LP entitled Jala jala Mozambique. Then he released his second album, Solito, for Kubaney Records, and in this production the following musicians participated: Director and voice - Hommy Sanz; Trumpet and voice - Gerardo Cruz; 1st trombone - Heriberto Sánchez; 2nd Trombone - Bobby Capa / Reinaldo Junco; Piano - Julito Mata and "Machuco"; Timbales - Tony Jimenez; Congas - Hernán Cortés; Bongos - Héctor Sanchez; Bass - Polito Huerta; Chorus (coro) - Gerardo Cruz and Heriberto Sánchez. After a long absence from the studio, he recorded his final album in 1984, entitled "Yo Canto Al Señor," as by then he had already become a Christian preacher.
