Kinga - Sexy Boy (2025)

Kinga - Sexy Boy (2025)

BAND/ARTIST: Kinga

In honor of Pride Month, Sexy Boy—a lost Canadian synthpop anthem by Kinga—is reissued by Dark Entries with fresh attention. Originally recorded in the late 1980s by Tomas Fussey (aka Kinga), the track was inspired by gender-fluid pop icons like Boy George and Madonna. Rooted in the Calgary club scene and influenced by the glamorous sounds of Divine, The Flirts, and Janet Jackson, Sexy Boy emerged as a bold expression of queer selfhood.

Initially released in 1988 with “Elevator Operator” as the A-side, Sexy Boy unexpectedly gained traction on Toronto's CFNY radio. A more polished "Late Night Dance Mix" followed in 1989 with house-inspired grooves, but it failed commercially—too forward-thinking for its time.

Now reissued with five mixes (including a previously unreleased TV Mix), this edition features a replica cover, insert with lyrics and liner notes, and an 8x10 photo of Kinga. The release serves as both a celebration of queer pop history and a rediscovery of an underground club gem whose sound resonates more today than ever before.
