Haress - Skylarks (2025) [Hi-Res]

BAND/ARTIST: Haress

Skylarks is the third album from Haress, a reclusive yet acclaimed collective from Shropshire, UK, and the anticipated follow-up to their 2022 breakthrough Ghosts. Building on their reputation for blending dark folk, drone, and rural psychedelia, Skylarks offers a deeply atmospheric, slow-burning journey rooted in traditional sounds and communal spirit.

Unlike their earlier improvisational approach, this album features carefully composed, expansive tracks shaped by the group's strengthened live synergy and a sense of sonic telepathy. Recorded live on location in Bishop’s Castle by Phil Booth, the album feels raw and present — as if the listener is in the room.

Influenced by British folk traditions, natural landscapes, and literary sources like Ben Myers' The Gallows Pole, Skylarks unfolds like a ritual soundtrack to a mythical rural Britain, merging past and future. The only vocals come from a communal choir, echoing their live performances and delivering moments of emotional weight — not heavy like metal, but like the gravity of the Earth itself.

The result is timeless, spellbinding music: pastoral yet psychedelic, minimalist yet immersive, described as “British ragas” or a folk-rooted take on desert blues. Skylarks cements Haress as one of the UK’s most unique and mystical musical voices.
