Since 2017, the musician Emmanuelle Dauvin has been astounding audiences by playing the violin and organ at the same time: she plays the violin herself while accompanying herself on the organ pedal - a reminiscence of the musical technique of Nicolaus Bruhns, who, according to current sources, mastered this technique at the end of the 17th century. This spectacular but forgotten musical practice, which inspires like an "unknown flying object", is reflected in the name OVNI Baroque, which Emmanuelle Dauvin gives to her projects. Together with soprano Heather Newhouse, she created "Cantata a 2", a concert program with arias and instrumental pieces for soprano, violin and bass by J. S. Bach, which is presented here in an innovative arrangement. The arias form a balance to the sonata trio, in which the text unfolds from the vocal line. The purity of the trio for two gives rise to a lush expressivity.
