Emerging from the San Francisco rock scene of the late 1960s, Santana have always been an interesting hybrid of rock, jazz and funk and first found international fame thanks to their superb performance at the Woodstock Festival of 1969. Throughout the following two decades or so the group enjoyed considerable success, including two American chart topping albums and sales in excess of 20 million units. Santana managed something of a renaissance at the end of the century thanks to the award winning Supernatural which put the group back on top of the charts for the first time in 28 years and sold over 14 million copies. This album, which is designed to complement the earlier Hallmark release of Santana Jam (702392) and this month s Soul Sacrifice (702372), showcases Santana s unique brand of Cubano rock to perfection.
