TENOR SAW’s Wake the Town was originally produced by Skengdon in 1989 and released via VP Records.
Tenor Saw gained immense popularity in the 1980s for his unique "out-of-key" singing style — deliberately deviating from melodic pitch to create a floating, distinctive vocal delivery. His brief career (1984–1988) produced timeless classics such as "Ring The Alarm," "Lots Of Sign," "Fever," "Pumpkin Belly," and "Roll Call." A true dancehall star, he tragically passed away in 1988 at the age of just 22.
Wake the Town is a tribute compilation produced by Sugar Minott and Skengdon’s Kenneth Black, honoring Tenor Saw’s legacy. This special reissue is digital-only and features newly remastered tracks. The release includes all 10 songs from the original edition plus the dub version of “Peace And Love,” titled “Peace Dub,” bringing the total to 11 tracks.
