This is a live recording of Pringsheim's "Konzert für Orchestra in C-dur Op. 32," which caused controversy when it was first performed in Tokyo in 1935, and is the first re-performance in 50 years. Pringsheim was a student of Mahler, and was frequently invited to the Berlin Philharmonic, and had a brilliant career, including conducting a Mahler cycle during his time as Furtwängler's permanent conductor. After being invited to the Tokyo Music School in 1931, he is famous for actively taking up Mahler in Japan and influencing many Japanese composers and conductors. This work, which aimed to "integrate" Japanese and Western music, had its score lost in 1974, but now a new performance score has been created by Orchestra Nipponica, making it possible to re-perform it. Also included is a work of the same name by two of Japan's leading composers, Akira Miyoshi and Yutaka Oguri. Enjoy the world of "Concerto for Orchestra" depicted by these three composers from different musical backgrounds.
