Following the success of their debut album Soul Glow, MELONYX revisit their acclaimed project with a fresh set of reinterpretations, inviting a cast of heavyweight collaborators to reimagine the original tracks through their own distinctive lenses.
The ‘Soul Glow Remixes’ EP shines new light on key tracks from the album, taking MELONYX’s lush harmonies and rich lyricism to new, genre-blending dimensions. ‘At The Door’ is given a blues-drenched, soulful stepper’s twist by No’West (Ashley Beedle, Darren Morris and Jo Wallace, previously known as North Street West), who describe their remix as capturing “a reggae, hip-hop vibe with a groove-catching essence.” The track also journeys into deep dubwise territory via Dub-Liner & Riffz – a collaboration between the UK’s Dub-Liner and Polish producer Riffz - who anchor the vocals in cavernous, echo-laden soundscapes.
Elsewhere, “Solar Power” is recharged with a UKG flip from Tyler Daley of Children of Zeus, a standout rework built for the rewind, blending nostalgic garage percussion with soulful vocal loops. On “Butterfly”, Ten Thousand Nights brings a sleek, late-night energy, infusing the original with groovy percussion and laid-back, soulful, dance-floor vibes.
Primarily produced by long-time collaborator and legendary Nottingham producer Joe Buhdha, ‘Soul Glow’ explored the duo’s personal and creative growth, set against a backdrop of Hip Hop, Neo Soul, and Lovers Rock influences. The remix EP carries these conversations to the dancefloor. On the original “At The Door”, MELONYX called for egoless love and emotional reciprocity, layered over a sultry Lovers Rock groove. “Solar Power”, produced by Brighton multi-instrumentalist J-Felix, bubbled with funk-driven optimism, while “Butterfly” laid bare the duo’s self-reflections and the courage it takes to believe in your own evolution.
