La Janara - Le Donne Magiche (2025)

La Janara's 2025 album Le Donne Magiche marks a significant evolution in the band's exploration of Italian occult rock. Departing from the darker themes of their previous work, Tenebra, which delved into the suffering of women under oppressive cultures, this new release shifts focus to the rebirth of life and emotions following grief and suffering. Set against the backdrop of ancient and rural Irpinia, the album intertwines pagan rites and occult invocations as a means for women to reclaim their rightful place in society.

The production of Le Donne Magiche was a meticulous process, recorded and fully produced at Blackness Sound Studio by Rocco Minichiello in Grottaminarda (AV). The extended writing and arranging period, influenced by the pandemic and personal events involving the musicians, allowed the band to explore various musical paths previously only hinted at. Guest appearances include Simone Pennucci (Bird, The Dhaze), who contributed electric guitars and synths on "La Notte è Buia," and Ricky Dal Pane (Witchwood), who added percussion and backing vocals on "Mò che Viene Agosto."

The album is dedicated to the memory of Domenico Carrara, with the song "Domens" serving as a tribute. The lineup for this release features Nicola Vitale on acoustic and electric guitars and lead vocals in "Domens," Raffaella Càngero on vocals, Rocco Cantelmo on bass, Giovanni Costabile on keyboards, and Antonio Laurano on drums. The artwork was created by Rocchina Del Priore.
