Dave Lewis (born David Llewellyn Lewis on 18 February 1951 in Belfast) is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose career spans from the late 1960s to the present day. He first came to prominence as a member of the soul-influenced band Method before they relocated to London, reinvented themselves as Andwella’s Dream, and eventually shortened the name to Andwella.
After Andwella disbanded, Lewis embarked on a solo career: in May 1975 he supported Don McLean before 85,000 in London’s Hyde Park and toured the UK with Fairport Convention. That same year he penned “Happy to Be on an Island in the Sun” for Demis Roussos, which topped charts across Europe and went platinum. He released two solo albums—*From Time to Time* (Polydor, 1976) co-produced by Chris Rainbow, and *A Collection of Short Dreams* (Polydor, 1978)—blending Southern rock and soul, fronting his own Dave Lewis Band through various line-ups.
