Hajda Banda / Гайда Банда is a Belarusian-Polish band performing traditional dances and songs from the Podlasie region in eastern Poland, the western parts of Belarus, and Polesye on the Polish-Ukrainian-Belarusian border. Performing solely using acoustic, traditional instruments, the band has been developing rural music of the borderlands, drawing from both Poles and Belarusians and adding their own unique style and ideas.
'Niepraudzivaya' means 'false' or 'untrue'. The word is taken from the first song's opening line – a story of the difficult fate of a woman who just got married. The album consists of more stories: about a strained relationship between a mother and her son, wartime troubles of a new mother, or the many problems related to the abuse of alcohol. However, it is also about the loads of fun that old-school village dances and music bring to the community. Some of the lyrics and much of the music for the record were written by the artists themselves, as they solemnly believe that tradition is fundamentally about the connection between the past, the present, and the future.
