Formed in the pre-Jovem Guarda times, in 1956, with other groups that would only find success in the '60s like the Golden Boys and Renato e Seus Blue Caps, the instrumental group the Jordans, like the Jet Black's, Os Incríveis, the Fellows, the Avalons, and others, were influenced by the Shadows and the Ventures. Their greatest difference, though, was their own understanding of the revolutionary character of English rock, which brought them the idea of using instruments like the balalaika, the mandolin, the bandola, the clavichord, the vibraphone, and the Portuguese guitar, when the most fashionable instruments of that period in Brazil were the electric ones, notably the bass and the guitar. Their first TV performance was in 1958 on a TV Record show hosted by Tony Campelo and Celly Campelo. Their first single, Boudah, was launched in 1961. Manito and Mingo, who later would form the Clevers, were revealed in the Jordans. In 1964, the group had a hit with "Blue Star" (Victor Young) and two years later another one with "Lara's Theme" (Maurice Jarre). In 1965, they toured Europe, performing in France, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Italy, Yugoslavia, and Sweden. Returning to Brazil, they were invited to participate in the TV show Jovem Guarda, the most important of that movement. Soon after Aladdin's departure in 1968, the group was dissolved. In 1995, Aladdin, Sinval, Tony, Foguinho, and Manito teamed together to realize the album Bons Tempos, continuing to perform and record.~Alvaro Neder
