Thumping soul from Sakai – another former background singer stepping out on her own in the freer world of the Neo Soul scene! Sakai hails from the Bay Area, and she's got an approach that's a bit different than some of her contemporaries from other points in the US – a style that's possibly a bit more upfront and hook-heavy, yet still not nearly as commercial as anything in the mainstream. Tunes are all pretty catchy, especially on the choruses – and they rely mostly on Sakai's strong vocal presentation, plus some well-crafted, but simple rhythms to put them over the top.
