Laura day romance has digitally released "Nemuru - walls," the first part of their third album, which together form one whole work!

It was already decided that this song would be the last song on the upcoming album, "See you at the Beach," to be released in August 2024, at the interview stage. At the same time, I had heard songwriter Suzuki Jin say that the meaning of this song would become clear when the whole picture of the album was revealed, so I had some idea of what it would be like. I had always thought that Laura day romance was a band with extremely high aspirations in terms of what they were trying to do with music, but it feels like they have finally proven that on an album scale.

"In the first and second albums, we just kept the sense of unity while lining up each song one by one, so from the beginning, I wanted to go a little further from there, or do something that could only be done in a long piece," Suzuki said in an interview about this work. The background to this is that, regardless of the listener's stance, the influence of music subscriptions and SNS has caused the writer's physical strength to weaken, which is a bit saturated. In fact, "Nemu-ru -walls" does not include the 2024 singles "Young life / brighter brighter" and "Transparent / Regret Babies". The band decided to make a new album with one theme, spanning two halves.

Now, while I was curious about the role and position of "Nagisa de Aimashou | on the beach" and "Amber blue | Amber Blue" that were released prior to the album, I played the album while looking forward to the new songs on the album. Although the tunes of the 10 songs are different, I was left with a strong experience of having finished watching a movie. Moreover, there are arrangements that deviate from the golden rules of masterpieces that we instinctively have built in, and even the description of indie pop feels loose and a little old-fashioned, so freaky. I think it's the freedom that comes from not letting one song tell too much. "Nemu-ru -walls" takes the style of a story that spans places and time, with the protagonist's (or his) memorable and rare relationship with her (or him). It seems that cramming too many story elements into one song would not have fit the theme of the album, as listening to the 10 songs gives the impression of a feature-length film.

Although it leaves a "cinematic" impression, I think the emotions and scenery that "Walls" evokes will vary depending on the listener's background and age. However, the timeline of the songs is set in the present, while others are probably reminiscent of when the two met as teenagers. The joy of musical expression is being able to simulate a time and space as the album progresses, and there's no doubt that the fact that this is realized not only through the lyrics but also through the atmosphere created by the arrangement and mix leads to the enjoyment of listening to this album.
