About the Album:
Moving is the abstract translation of long travels through the southern US into music for pedal steel guitar, chamber ensemble, organ, and electronics. The live performances of Moving feature 5 video projections with video art by Chaz Underriner which form the basis of the design of the CD. Moving particularly focuses on waterways in the south, including recordings from Blue Springs in Florida and the Atchafalaya Basin in Louisiana, the largest wetland and swamp in the US.

About the Artists:
Chaz Underriner (b. 1987 in Texas, USA) is a composer, transmedia artist and performer based in DeLand, Florida. Chaz’s work explores the representation of reality in art, especially landscape, through the juxtaposition of video projections, audio recordings and live performers. His work is “quietly radiant in animated stasis” (The Wire), “beautifully introspective and thought provoking” (Squidco), and “enchant[s] the listener so that time loses its function, so that you are completely subordinated to your dreams.” (Nieuw Noten)

Described by The New York Times as agile, compelling and irresistible, Antwerp-based guitarist Nico Couck (b. 1988) started playing the instrument at age 15. In 2013 he obtained his Master’s degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, under the guidance of Professor Roland Broux. Couck has performed at numerous prestigous venues in Europe, Asia, Central America, and the U.S.He has collaborated with and premiered works by Oscar Bianchi, Chaya Czernowin, Jason Eckardt, Clemens Gadenstätter, Johannes Kreidler, Brigitta Muntendorf, Hilda Paredes, Stefan Prins, Eva Reiter, Simon Steen-Andersen, Steven Takasugi, Serge Verstockt, amongst several others.

Ensemble Modelo62 is an ensemble that focuses on the performance of contemporary music, with a strong interdisciplinary component. Next to performing existing contemporary repertoire, the driving ambition of Modelo62 is to create tailor-made works for the group in collaboration with young as well as established composers and makers from a variety of disciplines. Modelo62 functions as a laboratory for new artistic experiments. As such, Modelo62 considers itself a musical ensemble but also a production house that dedicates time and resources to develop new projects. Modelo62’s vision is to reach new audiences with contemporary music and to offer them a transformative experience. Over 20 years of existence Modelo62 has brought more than 100 new works to the stage.
