Tomasz Markanicz - Lądolód (2025)

The main inspiration for the album "Lądolód" was the nature, landscapes and the nature of the Drawsko Lakeland. I come from this region of Poland and spend my free time here. Spending time in this place inspired me to compose musical miniatures that reflect the character of the region and show its natural value. The concept of recording the album on one instrument is a consequence of a certain deliberate abandonment of additional stimuli, I want the melodies to be played simply, even "primitively", without unnecessary effects.

Hence the idea for the live session. Almost all the titles on the album refer to this still little-discovered land. I wanted to convey the contemplative nature of the area, where hundreds of lakes intertwine with wooded hills, creating something that will remain in the memory forever. This land is incredibly "picturesque" and I wanted to express this aspect in my work. The album "Lądolód" is a kind of tribute to this beautiful and still wild land. May this wildness last as long as possible. At the same time, the nature of the album is, in a sense, an invitation to visit this part of Poland, as well as a way to find life balance – at least for a moment.
