General Mack’s Grapeshot (GMG) is the genre-blending music project of Australian artist Mitchy McIvor — a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and producer. After previous solo attempts, GMG became McIvor’s creative outlet, its name inspired by Austrian General Mack’s historic failure and the explosive Napoleonic weapon grapeshot, symbolizing the project’s stylistic diversity.
McIvor, known for playing in Melbourne and LA bands like Cannon and Damndogs, created GMG’s debut album Revel, Revel in solitude on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. Influenced by artists like Beck, St. Vincent, and Danger Mouse, the album showcases experimental production, cinematic layers, guitar-driven elements, and unconventional arrangements.
