The fifth album from acclaimed trumpeter/composer Tom Avgenicos, Ghosts Between Streams is a multi-artform piece combining chamber music, jazz and electronic soundscapes with dynamic visuals and dance forms. This live album comprises the soundtrack component, featuring Avgenicos' long-standing quartet Delay 45 in collaboration with Ensemble Apex, the collective of young trailblazing orchestral musicians from Eora/Sydney.
Ghosts Between Streams was inspired by daily walks through Stringybark Creek on Cammeraygal Country (North Sydney), a small nature reserve nestled amongst a high-density residential area. The work explores the coexistence of nature and urbanisation in community identity. Through juxtapositions of light and dark, consonance and dissonance, smooth and jagged, acoustic and electronic, audiences are reminded that our shared spaces are something to be cared for, nurtured and enjoyed by all.
