what and how much of it does music need to sound good? what can i bring to the table?’ are two main questions asked in the musical dialogue between tabea kind on double bass and paul walke on guitar. their minimalist musical vision blends broad atmospheric improvisations with very personal songs of their own, as well as well-known musical structures such as the blues. all presented in an intimate duo setting.
paul walke and tabea kind first met in the beginning of 2023 during their first week of rehearsals as part of the federal youth jazz orchestra of germany.
they quickly realized that playing in a big band together was not the only similarity they shared and soon began to collaborate outside of the orchestra, playing together in smaller groups and finally in an intimate duo setting. their minimalist musical vision blends broad atmospheric improvisations with very personal songs of their own, as well as well-known musical structures such as the blues. in april of 2024, they were awarded the recording prize, issued by the 2nd floor e.v. of the loft in cologne, which proposed the opportunity to record their debut album in july of the same year. the album will be released march 14th, 2025, on sts sts records.
