In his latest musical endeavor, Disappearing, Danish electronic musician Mathias Hammerstr?m, under the alias Amphior, embarks on an introspective journey where the tangible dissolves into the ethereal.Following his 2022 release, Another Presence, Mathias delves into mesmeric spaces characterized by melodious pianoworks warmly infused with the nostalgic tones of tape machines, guitar pedals, and retro amplifiers. As the luminous glow of analog synths intermittently bathes the listener in a comforting warmth, the enchanting piano melodies journey deep into the depths of the subconscious mind, evoking hazy memories of days long gone. Across 11 tracks, the music fleetingly weaves through moments of hope and despair, blurring the line between reality and illusion - all of which is encapsulated in the album title, Disappearing. The album is a meditation on anxiety and the longing for a time when it had less sway over me.- shares Mathias. Reflecting on my childhood, I remember how playing the piano was deeply meaningful to me, and crafting Disappearing felt like reconnecting with my younger self through the music. Amphior is the alias of Danish electronic and ambient producer Mathias Hammerstr?m, who crafts immersive soundscapes that shift between melancholic undertones and ethereal resonance. Drawn to the authentic warmth of tape machines and vintage amplifiers, he layers atmospheric instruments, enigmatic voices, and lo-fi textures into a nostalgic, enchanting haze. Mathias music evokes introspective scenes of quiet reflection and a search for tranquility, with moments of calming catharsis woven throughout. Amphiors debut came in March 2014 on Estonia-based Loodma Recordings with the Begone EP, which delved into Future Garage with skittering 2-step rhythms, rumbling bass, pitched vocals, and urban rain sounds. He returned to this style in 2016 with Unlocked EP, followed by his first full-length album, Shadowland, in 2017 on Dutch label Shipwrec--a collection of IDM-inspired, densely textured tracks. Since then, Mathias has expanded into ambient music. In 2019, he released We Used to Dance, a phantasmagoric analog synth journey featuring a remix by the prolific Sangam. In 2022, Amphiors third full-length album, the somber and spiritually resonant Another Presence, was released on Italys Glacial Movements, with mastering by Simon Scott of Slowdive.
