Aron Talas Trio - New Questions, Old Answers (2023)

Aron Platas is a pianist, drummer and, if necessary, singer and bass player in one person. He is a composer who is not devoid of emotional, exuberant lyricism, who is well suited to light music, danceable beats and electronic sounds, but who from time to time also inserts folk music elements, classical music inspirations or rock music quotes into his compositions. His new album seems to combine the marks of his first trio album, little Beggar, released on BMC records, and his two solo albums: groove themes and song-like compositions are juxtaposed.
He doesn't even try to separate himself from his predecessors: Brian Blade, Roy Hargrove, Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Erik Satie, Carpathian Basin tunes-this list is just the surface of the bottomless well from which platter draws inspiration.
