To mark the 40th anniversary of Modern Talking, singer Thomas Anders surprises fans with a very special album project: A HOMMAGE TO MODERN TALKING.
Barely back from his successful solo tour across the USA, Thomas Anders is already tackling his next project. To celebrate 40 years of Modern Talking, the singer is surprising everyone with new recordings of the first six Modern Talking albums, making him the first German artist to reinterpret his entire early work! Since 2003, the most successful duo in German pop history has gone their separate ways, but Modern Talking's songs, still danced to all over the world, remain immortal.
The debut single “You're My Heart, You're My Soul” from The 1st Album became a sensation in early 1985, reaching number 1 in the sales charts of 81 countries. Modern Talking became superstars overnight. “The success of Modern Talking fundamentally changed my life,” says Anders, reflecting on the time he and Bohlen stormed the German and international charts. To date, the cult duo has sold over 125 million records worldwide, and their music currently reaches more than 300 million listeners annually on streaming platforms. Their countless hits continue to fill dancefloors everywhere, earning them the nickname “Platinum Kings of Big Room Disco”!
The brand-new recording of the single “You're My Heart, You're My Soul (Thomas Version)” is now available to download and stream, alongside a new ‘In The Mix’ version.
Thomas Anders' tribute to this unforgettable era is a heartfelt project. Together with music producer Christian Geller, whose first self-purchased single as a teenager was “You're My Heart, You're My Soul,” Anders embarked on this exciting anniversary project at Studio 61. Interestingly, both Anders and Geller hail from the Koblenz region and have known each other for years, forming a well-rehearsed team. Geller has collaborated with Anders several times and has also worked with other artists such as Anastacia, Peter Maffay, Sasha, the No Angels, and Giovanni Zarrella.
With his unmistakable voice, Anders’ new recordings of the first Modern Talking albums pay tribute to the unique success of the duo and the colorful, carefree times of the mid-1980s. The songs, originally inspired by the pulsating Italo disco sound, remain instantly recognizable but now feature a contemporary twist with updated drums and synths. Additionally, the six-album package is being released in Dolby Atmos 3D audio for the first time. Anders also surprises fans with two previously unreleased songs on each album, such as “Don’t Fly Too High” and “Hold Me Tight In The Night” on the first album. Studio musicians have faithfully re-recorded all the tracks under Geller’s direction, with the same choir singers from the original recordings. During production, tracks from the original sessions were reproduced and seamlessly mixed into the new versions.
The six albums—The 1st Album, Let’s Talk About Love, Ready For Romance, In The Middle Of Nowhere, Romantic Warriors, and In The Garden Of Venus—feature all of Modern Talking’s greatest hits from the 80s. These albums will be released by the Stars by Edel label at regular intervals from March 2025 until the end of the year. Fans can look forward to an elaborate collector’s box set as well, which will be distributed digitally via Kontor New Media. For the 40th anniversary of Modern Talking, this marks an exciting milestone.
Between 1984 and 1987 (with two albums released per year!) and during their comeback from 1998 to 2003, Modern Talking thrilled audiences worldwide with hits and concerts, crafting one of the most spectacular careers in German pop history. Their influence spanned continents, from Europe to South America, Africa, and Asia. Thomas Anders, known as the “Gentleman of Music,” continues to enjoy success as a solo artist. After Modern Talking’s final split in 2003, Anders carved out a thriving solo career with chart-topping albums and singles. Collaborating with Florian Silbereisen, he created Das Album in 2020 and Nochmal! in 2024, both of which reached number 1 in the charts. Anders has also released solo hits like “Der Beste Tag meines Lebens” and “Das Leben ist jetzt.”
Beyond music, Thomas Anders showcases his versatility as a hobby chef and connoisseur with his own wine and spice line. He is also an author (Modern Cooking), keynote speaker (Der Mensch als Marke), presenter, entrepreneur, and podcaster (Modern Talking - … einfach Anders!). However, music remains his greatest passion. His songs reflect his positive energy and zest for life. Anders has received over 420 gold and platinum records and numerous awards for his artistry, including the Bambi, Echo, Goldene Europa, World Music Award, and Bravo-Otto.
