Michele Franzini, Roberto Mattei, Rudy Royston - Roots 'n' Rain (2016)

Michele Francini strengthens his relationship with Abeat Records with the help of renowned musicians, including musician Rudy Royston, one of the most popular drummers of the modern jazz scene (Dave Douglas, Bill Frizell, Ravi Coltrane and J.D. Allen, Ben Ellison...), as well as Roberto Mattei, who makes up a versatile and experienced rhythm section. The album was recorded following concerts in Italy. An effective recording session, full of freshness and intensity, proved to be a great success. A special place in the repertoire is occupied by the pianist's compositions, which are very diverse in rhythmic and harmonic aspects, modern, but with respect for the great traditions of African-American music, as well as "standard" and "original jazz". A CD showing how the combination of Italian and American musicians often adds an additional and intriguing touch to jazz recipes on the "old continent".
