K15 (Kieron Ifill) is best known for his Insecurities EP, released on Kyle Hall’s Wild Oats label in 2014, where he crafted raw yet elegant house music. Rather than repeating himself, he explored hip-hop (The Scarlet Tape), R&B (Mist), and ambient trip-hop (Indecision). By 2016, he found a balance with Culross Close, a jazzy broken beat quintet whose debut album Home blended soulful depth with experimental freedom.
A standout track from Home, “Requiem + Reflections,” mourned the killing of Mark Duggan, drawing on J Dilla’s “Fall in Love.” While earlier Culross Close albums focused on emotional depth, their third album, PRESSURE, shifts attention to dynamic instrumental interplay.
