Cat Clyde is an artist out of Stratford, Ontario. A fresh take on the classic sounds of yesteryear; breathing new life into the velvety vocal, tack-piano, slide-guitar-style that can instantly walk you through the swinging doors of a packed saloon.
This summer, I had the pleasure of playing at Rare Bird Farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. As I pulled into the farm, I was welcomed and embraced by the big hills and the cool stream. Farah and Mitchell, the owners and caretakers of the land, arranged for me to play in an open barn, looking out over the big hills while the audience sat on blankets drinking tea and their dogs roamed and played. We recorded our set watching the sun go down behind the hills.
My time in Western North Carolina, driving the winding roads, seeing the beautiful forests, swimming in the rivers, and walking the trails, was a source of great beauty and magic to me. This space is home to a community that fosters and calls upon a deep appreciation for sharing music and continuing to preserve our Appalachian traditions.
Cat Clyde's performance of "I Feel It" filmed & recorded live at Rare Bird Farm's Tug Fork Barn in Spring Creek, NC on July 13, 2024.
