Various Artists - Hi, Hi, Hazel~Here Come the Kids 60's Teen Group Collection (2020)

BAND/ARTIST: Various Artists

Includes many first-time CD releases! A 2CD compilation of rare recordings by low teen groups that were the stepping stones to the later boom of kids/family groups! Looking back, "kids" were very active in the music scene in the early 1970s. The groups and singers who dominated the hit charts in the U.S. and U.K. were mainly from the high teens and low teens. At the core of these groups were three major "family" groups. Leading the way was the Jackson Five (Motown), which emerged with its first hit, "I Want You Back," which reached No. 1 in the U.S. in January 1970. At that point, the members were between the ages of 11 and 18. The youngest member was lead vocalist Michael Jackson. The Partridge Family (Bell) followed in November of the same year with the US No. 1 song "I Think I Love You. David Cassidy, who played the lead role of the eldest son, was 20 years old, but the younger children were between 7 and 17 years old. The following year, in February 1971, the Osmonds (MGM) made their big breakthrough with the No. 1 hit "One Bad Apple. Their ages at the time ranged from 13 to 21.~This CD focuses on a group of children who were not on the hit charts but had interesting records before the "boom" of the early to late 1960s (the era before the Cowsills made their breakthrough) and their single songs are selected (many of them are on CD for the first time). The album features a selection of their singles (many of them are on CD for the first time). We hope you will enjoy their cute and innocent charm. ~Excerpts from the commentary by Toru Ueshiba
